Fictional Road Maps

 adrian_leskiw_map.png

Adrian Leskiw creates fictional road maps for fictional cities and nations. This is a guy who really likes maps, although his work goes beyond just that. Looking through each project it's possible to see an understanding of how multiple factors can influence the growth of a community. Notice the evolution of the infrastructure in Breda, his newest project. He has a map for what it would look like in 2035! Also notice the impact of culture. The colonial english influence is readily apparent in Breda, while the strict grid of Belle River and Sanford in "Michigan" are indicitive of a larger planning effort and more modern technology. The only thing missing is the storytelling aspect that could be layered on top of all this. For example, how would a large family estate affect roads and building, or the inability of the local planning council to successfully come a resolution over the development of a historic site?

Wonderful. Could take hours to fully explore. (via Coudal Partners)
