Pangea Day
I just got an email about an exciting initiative that was spawned from last year's TED Conference in Monterey. For those of you unfamiliar with TED, it stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design and has grown to include more than a thousand people each year. The conference requires an application for admission and it's sold out years in advance. Their mission is to spread ideas that have the power to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world.
Each year a TED Prize is given to three individuals whose ideas have the greatest potential. Jenhane Noujam has the goal of using film to promote better understanding of our common humanity. We're all invited to submit films to be included on Pangea Day, May 10, 2008, where the result of the best films will be shown to a global audience in cities like New York City, Rio, London, Dharamsala, Cairo, Jerusalem, and Kigali.
Check out the TED Blog or the Pangea Day website for examples and information on how to submit your own film.
